Tuao, Cagayan. At least sixty five (65) Movement for Self-Reliant Tuao (MSRTs) farmers from fifteen (15) barangays of Tuao, Cagayan were benefited of the CAPE project entitled “Sustainable Bamboo Production for the Tri-Regional Agri-Industrial Hub”. The project is focused on the adoption of bamboo technology developed by Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) especially in the production and cultivation of the bamboo to sustain the supply of raw materials for the bamboo industry in the TRI- Regional Agri-Industrial Hub.
This is a joint project spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology through its Provincial Science and Technology Office of Cagayan (DOST-PSTC) in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Tuao (LGU), the Cagayan State University (CSU) and Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU).
The project was conceptualized through the vision of Sec. Manuel “Manny” Mamba, Head, Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) to provide and sustain the bamboo industry for the Tri-Regional Agri-Industrial Hub.
The Local Government Unit of Tuao was selected to be the recipient of the project because the municipality is bounded by Chico River which is now a risk among the community people residing along the river due to soil erosion. Through this project constraint can be prevented or lessened. Purposely, the said project aims to transfer mature technologies on bamboo production thru DOST’s Consultancy for Agricultural Productivity Enhancement (CAPE) Program; to sustain bamboo production in the Tri-Regional Agri-Industrial Hub; and to strengthen MSRTs of Tuao, Cagayan.
